How to choose where to study?

Tests, pigeons, forms and more, all to find the best place to study. But how can we be accepted into the institution we dream of? Here are some ways to help guide you.

The choice of study is not straightforward: many candidates prefer to travel abroad and study later, and when returning do not know what to study and where.

Many student surveys show that the choice of study comes after choosing what to study. So if you still don't know what to learn, you should do our test  that allows you to get guidance. If you've already decided what to learn, but you don't know where, here are some explanations.

Know yourself

It's hard to choose where to learn if you have an excellent high school diploma and also an amazing psychometric, because all the choices are up to you. On the other hand - it is very easy to know where to learn if in adulthood you prefer to spend time at the seaside, and you did not succeed in the psychometric exam. If you are one of these two extreme types, you can return to work or Facebook, this article is not for you.

Here, we will focus on most candidates who have good maturity, and also reasonable psychometric, but they do not know what admission requirements for each department and how to choose a university or college. The first thing you should already know at this point is that we recommend first knowing what you want to learn. It is not intended that you know exactly the entire degree course, but that you have a general direction: If you are interested in economics, you are likely to decide between economics and business administration, and if you are considering communication, your second option may be law studies. It would be very strange if you were to decide between East Asian studies and medicine. Also, know that if you prefer to attend university, you are not expected to have an easy life in terms of admission and it is time to check what is required of you. You may prefer to spend a year improving maturity and psychometric preparation, only to be admitted to the university and faculty you have always dreamed of. Others would prefer to start learning something, no matter where, because burning a year of life on school preparation instead of learning something seems to them a waste of time.

Know the university

Your prospective employers will still prefer university graduates, but the university may not always prefer you to its ranks. Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University boast of a very high academic level and of excellent and talented academic staff who do not compromise on academic studies. Is it always good? It depends on who you ask. Many students at Tel Aviv University complain that the lecturers speak too high a language, are condescending, do not help the practical things and write particularly difficult tests. It is clear to you that such an academic environment is not suitable for everyone.

Your potential employers will still favor university graduates

On the other hand is Ben Gurion University, where the academic level is good, and the students studying it claim that life in Be'er Sheva is amazing, the faculty is attentive and helpful, and the academic level is good too. But beyond the Negev and social and community culture, is not suitable for all students who insist on studying at the center.

In the middle is Bar Ilan University, where everything seems to be at ease, not peculiar to students, sometimes feel that the university is all peaceful, moving calmly with domes and headgear and not running anywhere.

These three examples are cited so you know and understand unequivocally: Not every university broadcasts your wave. Not every university blows the same spirit.

To know which place is best for you, assuming you have choices between routes or places, we recommend going to the open day, talking to the faculty in the faculty that attracts you, getting the DNA of the place and feeling the vibe.

If you manage to incorporate your intuition into the informed choice of course and place of study, you are guaranteed 3 years of enjoyment. In an enclosed article, I would note that I enrolled in economics at the undergraduate level with a strong interest and passion for the field (yes, I am) and on the other hand, one of my best friends started studying economics at the same college, because "this is what came out", without checking other tracks or other places of study. When school was hard, I tried to cope with friends, humor, and B-days. On the other hand, he always complained that it was difficult, that he did not enjoy it, that his studies were suffering for him and that he did not want to leave now because it would be easier for him later. Think for yourself what kind of experience you want to collect from your studies.

Know the college

Just as not all universities are born equal, and admission conditions vary from year to year and from one track to the next, so do colleges. As a result of the growth of the colleges, universities have entered into a marketing problem as many students choose to study their favorite subject in the college, where the threshold requirements are lower, than to settle for a university degree.

In colleges, not only are the threshold conditions lower, you can also be accepted as conditional students and meet specific grades to pursue a second year. In some places, you may only be accepted on the basis of a personal interview and average maturity, or start a preparatory course that includes some of the courses you will study during your degree, and then earn credits before the school year opens.

Colleges also have different energy, but you have to know that the perceived academic level of employers is very different from college to college. High-ranking colleges are Herzliya Interdisciplinary College, the College of Management and A feka College of Engineering. Because of the dignity of the other colleges, we would not want to rank those at the bottom of the table, but if you want to get a college degree and you do not meet the threshold requirements, then you simply have no choice.

Remember that even if you did a college degree that is considered by the universities to be "less good" and your average is good, you can do a university degree without any problem. No one can judge your school and not accept you if you meet the requirements for a master's degree. Unfortunately, some of the secretaries and lecturers in the various faculties tend to twist their nose when they hear the word "college" but the funniest thing is that in the second degree you will meet college and university graduates from all corners of the country, and most of them are all good students.

making a

The decision to choose what to learn and where to study can easily take about 3 months. Take the time, no one is forcing you to decide now. Try talking to friends, family, alumni of colleges and universities you know. Take the field - Stroll around the university and college, seek help and guidance from other lecturers and students, feel the spirit, flow, listen to your heart. In most cases, you have to decide between 2-3 study courses between 1-2 colleges and universities.

Once you have made the decision, start your studies and see if they are right for you. If that's similar to what you thought and felt. Remember that you can always pass a course or place of study, and the courses you have accumulated can count as credits for you in the new place you will come to. The choice is yours. Do not let your parents choose for you, and do not overpower for financial reasons. Each academic institution has different and varied scholarship pathways that can help you succeed when you focus on grades, rather than work and budgets.

All in all, choosing where to study should be part of what you are and who you are, you are going to spend at least 3 years wherever you choose, where you will experience one of the best times of your life.
